You ought to have a proper work bench and tool storage
Setting up a workshop involves proper storage of tools. You would not want a child to get hold of and play with hazardous tools such as saws and blades. Your safety is the first thing that you have in mind. When working with projects, the possibility of being cut is not far away. You must also invest in protective gear such as glove, eye protection and proper outfit as an added preventive measure.
Build on your carpentry hand tools
Most repairs in homes will require general carpentry tools. You can start building your collection by buying different hand tools. You will need to buy different sorts of hammers, handsaw, measuring tools, pry bar, clamps, chisels, drill bits, chalks, router bits, sanders, utility knife, pencils and some fasteners. You will also need to keep hardware such as nails and screws.
If you have the budget and the space to spare, then you may include power tools in your collection of carpentry tools. They make work easier and they can be reused time and time again. You can buy a table saw, air tools, electric sanders, electric drill, electric screw gun, screw driver tips and other tools that are powered by batteries for your own convenience.
Buy general electric tools and plumbing tools
Even minor electrical jobs need the right set of tools. Buy a circuit tester, wire cutter and strippers, screwdrivers, electrical tapes and pliers. See the insulation properties of these tools and check if they pass safety standards. Store them in a separate shelf or in its designated toolbox. Keep these away from liquefied objects and keep them dry at all times to prevent electrocution. Your plumbing projects will be easier if you have pipe wrenches, solder, copper brushes and a torch.
You don’t have to buy all of the workshop tools mentioned above. You can slowly build on your collection and buy only when there is need to do so. Before starting out on any project, check your inventory of tools to prevent you from buying the same set. Choose brands that are made of quality materials but at the same time, offer affordability.
